Terms of Use

Welcome to Extraction. By downloading, installing, or using the Extraction app ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Extraction ("we," "us," "our"). By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Extraction is a coffee and espresso tracking application that allows you to:
- Scan coffee bags using AI-powered image recognition
- Log and track espresso shots and brew parameters
- Manage a personal coffee bean library
- Track coffee equipment
- Receive AI-generated brew recipes and recommendations
- Access a barista chat assistant for brewing advice
3. Account Registration
- You must create an account to use the Service
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
4. Subscriptions & Payments
4.1 Free Tier
The free tier includes limited access to features including a maximum number of bag scans, shots, and coffees in your library.
4.2 Pro Subscription
Extraction Pro is available as a monthly, annual, or lifetime subscription. Subscription details and pricing are displayed in the app at the time of purchase.
4.3 Billing
- All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
4.4 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store's refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.
4.5 Free Trials
We may offer a free trial period for Pro features. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and you will be charged the applicable subscription fee.
5. AI-Generated Content
Extraction uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to provide coffee bag recognition, brew recipes, and barista advice. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only
- Brew recipes and recommendations are suggestions and may not be optimal for your specific equipment, beans, or preferences
- Coffee bag recognition may contain inaccuracies — always verify critical information (e.g., allergens, ingredients) from the original packaging
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content
- You use AI-generated recommendations at your own discretion and risk
6. User Content & Data
- You retain ownership of all data you create in the app (shots, notes, ratings, etc.)
- You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the Service
- You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the content you submit
- We may delete content that violates these Terms
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Circumvent subscription restrictions or feature limits
- Submit content that is abusive, harmful, or infringes on others' rights
8. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in the Service — including the app design, code, branding, logos, and AI prompts — is owned by Extraction or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written consent.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or reliable. Coffee brewing involves hot water and pressurised equipment — always follow your equipment manufacturer's safety guidelines.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EXTRACTION AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Reliance on AI-generated brew recipes or recommendations
- Loss of data or account access
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Inaccuracies in coffee bag recognition
- Equipment damage resulting from following AI-generated advice
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
11. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@extrctn.com
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately
- We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you must stop using the Service.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Switzerland.
14. Apple-Specific Terms
If you access the Service through the Apple App Store, you also agree that:
- These Terms are between you and Extraction, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
